Transferring to CMC

Why CMC?

Transferring to a four-year institution can be an exciting yet difficult decision. That is why choosing the right college or university and knowing how to make the decision is important. You will need to consider the size of the college, academic strengths, retention rates, majors offered, student/faculty ratio, liberal arts versus specialized programs, student activities, commuting versus living on campus, internship opportunities, study abroad programs, access to faculty, support services on campus, financial aid resources, and graduate school acceptance rates. As a transfer student, you will have a much different experience at Claremont McKenna College than at a larger university. CMC is a small liberal arts college of 1,200 students. With a 9 to 1 student/faculty ratio and an average class size of 16, you will have the opportunity to interact with your professors on an academic as well as a personal level. Here you will not have graduate students teaching your classes. CMC faculty teach all classes and 99% hold doctorate degrees.

Claremont McKenna College has established a nationwide reputation for producing leaders in business, government, and the professions. US News & World Report has consistently ranked CMC among the top 15 liberal arts colleges in the nation. Graduates are successful in the job market and nearly 70% eventually earn post-graduate degrees at some of the nation's finest graduate schools.
