Robert Day Scholars Program
The undergraduate component of the Robert Day Scholars Program prepares highly motivated students for leadership roles in business, finance, government, and not-for-profit organizations.
Students apply during their junior year to become Robert Day Scholars during their senior year of study. The Program focuses on four core areas of business education: accounting, finance, economics and organizational psychology. This curriculum was developed to achieve two goals. First, students who complete the undergraduate component and then enter the working world will be well prepared with the fundamental skills necessary to navigate complex organizations. Second, the undergraduate component is an ideal gateway to the fifth-year Master of Finance degree that is more focused on financial economics. Students who complete the undergraduate component are designated as Robert Day Scholars and attain a bachelor's degree in their respective major.
In addition to the curriculum, undergraduate Robert Day Scholars actively participate in a rich co-curricular program. These activities—including guest speakers, internship opportunities, networking trips and workshops—are designed to provide students with an understanding of the importance of a strong ethical foundation in decision-making settings and to broaden their skill sets in areas such as leadership and communications.
The undergraduate Robert Day Scholars Program is an honors program within the Robert Day School of Economics and Finance. As such, students selected as Robert Day Scholars are also eligible for generous levels of scholarship support.
Please note that the undergraduate Scholars curriculum requires completion of the following prerequisite coursework:
- Mathematics 30. Calculus I
- Economics 50. Principles of Economic Analysis
- Economics 101. Intermediate Microeconomics
- Economics 120. Statistics
These courses may be used to meet other major, general education, or sequence requirements; they should be completed prior to the senior year.
Several program courses also require Economics 102. Intermediate Macroeconomics.
