WASC Accreditation Review
Claremont McKenna College is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is one of six regional associations that accredit public and private schools, colleges, and universities in the United States, and is an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Education and the United States Department of Education.
The College is currently undergoing its periodic reaffirmation of accreditation by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities. The College's Institutional Proposal for Reaffirmation of Accreditation was approved as submitted to the Accrediting Commission in June 2007.
Our Capacity and Preparatory Review (CPR) was completed in June 2009, and we hosted the CPR Visiting Team in October 2009. The CMC Assessment Committee is engaged in the first cycle of assessing overall student learning, and our academic departments are currently completing the initial cycle of assessments of our majors. Both of these activities are scheduled to be completed by the end of the 2011 academic year. Our Educational Effectiveness Report (EER) is due to WASC in June 2011. As with the CPR, we will host an EER Visiting Team, which is scheduled for November 2011.
