Welcome to the Center for Writing and Public Discourse

The Center for Writing and Public Discourse is a resource for both CMC students and students enrolled in CMC courses.  Consultants review drafts of papers at any stage of the writing process from any and all disciplines, including the Senior Thesis. Consultants may also provide feedback and assistance on class presentations.

At the Center for Writing and Public Discourse, consultants assist students with issues related to argumentation, clarity of prose, and overall quality of composition.  To schedule an appointment with one of our Writing Consultants, please click on the box above to access the TutorTrac system (for a "how to" guide for Tutortrac, click HERE).  You may also call extension 74142 to schedule an appointment.  Consultations are also available on a walk-basis, provided that there is not another appointment scheduled for that time.  Consultations last for one half hour.  Seniors working on their theses may schedule an hour-long consultation session. Please note that Consultants do not provide assistance with copy-editing, proofreading, or take-home exams.  Because their role is to encourage their peers to become effective writers, Consultants cannot spend more than one hour with a student on a single assignment.
